Valuing our Veterans
College Policy 5.1.40
The purpose of this policy is to identify the support and assistance that Central Ohio Technical College provides to veteran, service members and military connected students, and to ensure compliance with Ohio Revised Code Section 3345.421(B).

Admissions
Whether you are still active in the military or have already transitioned to the civilian world: COTC is here to help you invest in your chosen path. With over 50 degrees and certificates, affordable tuition and free campus resources, we are here to support you all the way. Thank you for your service; we look forward to serving you.
Military, Veteran and Dependent Educational Benefits
There are several federal and state of Ohio VA Education Benefits available for COTC students depending on military branch and length of service. The COTC veteran and military team are here to help you determine the best option available for you based on your current military status, career and future education goals.
Air Force GEM Program
Central Ohio Technical College is a proud partner in the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) General Education Mobile (GEM) program. As part of the GEM program, COTC offers general education courses to active duty airmen and guardians who are pursuing their associate degree through the CCAF.
Ohio National Guard Non-Traditional Education Programs (NTEP)
COTC’s commercial driver’s license (CDL) training course is approved for the Ohio National Guard Scholarship Program (ONGSP). Eligible members of the Ohio National Guard may use this funding to help cover the cost of the course. Students interested in using ONGSP must coordinate with their unit, submit the necessary application materials, and have approval prior to the start of the course.
For more information about the program, please contact Amanda Snider at snider.414@mail.cotc.edu.
Ohio National Guard Scholarship and Military Tuition Assistance (TA)
ONGSP will pay the base tuition (general and instructional fees) for Ohio state-assisted colleges and universities. ONGSP scholarships are available for both full-time and part-time students who are actively enrolled in at least three (3) credit hours or more of coursework.
Financial Aid and Scholarships
Financial aid can be used in addition to other military/student veteran educational benefits. We encourage students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for grants, scholarships and loans.
Military and Veteran Services and Resources
All students attending COTC have services and resources available to them on campus, online and in our communities. Some services and resources are specific to you, our military and veteran students.
Call to Active Duty or Changes in Active Duty Status
When a student is called to active military duty or there are changes in their active duty status, a process is in place to make that transition as seamless as possible.
