Admissions Steps

If you are a new student and have never attended COTC, your first step is to become a COTC student. Visit our Steps to Enroll webpage, and complete those steps.

If you are a returning student who has not taken classes at COTC for a year or more, you’ll need to reapply and follow the same Steps to Enroll as a new student.

If you are a current student who has been taking classes at COTC, then you may be ready to begin steps to take FIRE I, FIRE II, or EMT. Communicate with your academic advisor with questions you have regarding this information. If you do not have an assigned academic advisor email cotcadvising@mail.cotc.edu to be connected with one.

You can access the materials from the information meeting below.

Background Checks

Students can pay for their required BCI & FBI background checks here, if they plan to get them done at the Newark Campus of COTC.

All programs on this page require this excluding the Fire Science Technical Rescue. You will want to refer to the checklist for your chosen program and location to determine where the background check should be sent as well as how long it is valid. Additionally, once you pay for it you will need to visit the Newark Campus Public Safety Office to complete the background checks.
