Registration is now open for the second annual Blue Line Twilight Run 5K and 10K, which will be held in person on Saturday, May 1, 7 p.m., at Rotary Park, adjacent to the Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) Newark campus. The event will kick-off at 6 p.m. with a free half-mile Kids Fun Run for youth 10 and younger. Online registration is available at go.cotc.edu/bluelinerun through Wednesday, April 28.

As a single father, Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) student Shawn Dugan leads by example – an example that has shown service to the community is both noticed and rewarded. Dugan, of Saint Louisville, is the recipient of the J. Gilbert Reese Next Generation Community Leadership Award and a $2,000 scholarship for spring semester 2021.

Eleanor Jackson was an African American small business owner with a big heart who worked tirelessly to make many local families’ and community events memorable. She touched her clients’ hearts with her gregarious personality and filled their stomachs with delectable cuisine from her catering company. COTC Nursing Instructor Receives National Educator Award
Percella Gualtieri, of Newark, began teaching in the nursing program at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) in January, but already she’s receiving accolades from her peers nationwide. On November 12, the Foundation of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) bestowed the 2020 Elsevier Educator of the Year Award to Gualtieri in a virtual award ceremony.
New Emergency Fund Established for Veteran and Military Students at COTC and Ohio State Newark
On this Veterans Day, Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and The Ohio State University at Newark announce a new fund to support veterans, active duty service members and reservists who encounter an unexpected financial hardship that threatens their academic progress. The co-located institutions are seeking the community’s help to grow the Veterans Emergency Fund and help military-affiliated students enrolled at both institutions overcome financial crises to successfully complete their degree.

Mara Weber began a traditional four-year degree at The Ohio State University at Newark but realized it wasn’t the right path for her. She wanted to get a degree quicker allowing her to get into the healthcare setting and begin making a difference. Being at Ohio State Newark, the co-located campus of Central Ohio Technical College (COTC), gave her an advantage.
Ohio State Newark/COTC Student Food Pantry Use Soars During Pandemic
Jamie White already knew that many college students struggle with not having enough food. White, who coordinates the Campus Corner: Student Food Pantry at The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College (COTC), noted that a year ago 47% of campus students surveyed stated that at some point in the semester the food they bought just didn’t last and that they didn’t have money to buy more.
COTC Awarded $99,000 from Facebook to Enhance Remote Learning
Central Ohio Technical College (COTC), a leader in career-based technical education and transfer degrees, is once again expanding critically needed access to higher education for central Ohioans. The two-year college has been awarded $99,000 from Facebook to create a one-button digital studio and smart classroom at its Newark campus and complementary smart classrooms at its three extended campus locations in Coshocton, Mount Vernon and Pataskala.
