Students can complete the short-term certificate in just two semesters. Students can complete the one-year certificate in one calendar year.

Can I take classes online or face-to-face?

Students pursuing a healthcare degree should expect to take classes face-to-face to experience hands-on learning. Some general education classes may be offered online.

Can I pursue an associate degree after I complete one or both of the Medical Coding Certificates?

Students who complete either or both of the Medical Coding certificates are encouraged to continue because they are well on their way to completing the Medical Coding associate degree

What type of financial assistance is available to help me pay for college?

Every student is also encouraged to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for grants, scholarships and loans. Students who complete a FAFSA are automatically considered for some scholarships. Other scholarships require an application.

The information course will take less than one hour to complete and can be accessed multiple times.

Once you been enrolled at COTC and have begun the application process for the sonography program, complete this information course again in its entirety. AIM

Accessible Information Management (or AIM for short) is Disability Services’s online portal for students and instructors.

  • Students new to Disability Services use AIM to submit their application for registration.
  • SLDS-registered students use AIM to generate their Course Accessibility Letters.

To ensure that you do not miss important emails sent via AIM, we encourage you to either:

  1. Add the domain “post.accessiblelearning.com” to your safe sender list (Outlook 365 instructions).
  2. Regularly check your junk mail folder.

Registration Process for Accommodations

1. Application and documentation

Complete the New Student Application and upload supportive documentation.*

2: Review

SLDS will review the application and submitted documentation.

3: Notification

SLDS will notify the student through their COTC email within three business days of receipt to schedule a Welcome Meeting.

4: Welcome Meeting

During the welcome meeting (either in person or via Zoom), the student will meet with one of the SLDS staff members to discuss the accommodation needs and other relevant information to finalize accommodations.

*Students with readily observable permanent disabilities (e.g., wheelchair and cane users) are exempt from submitting documentation. Instead, they can submit their application and contact the office at 740.364.9578 to schedule a welcome meeting.

Current Registered Students

Students currently registered with SLDS must request accommodation letters every semester. Once requested the letters will be sent to the student and the instructor. It is recommended that letters be requested before the beginning of every semester.

How are classes offered at COTC?

At COTC, we know students need flexibility in their schedules. Many of our technical courses require hands-on participation in our campus labs to learn and master job skills. Other courses — such as lectures — can be attended in a variety of ways. That’s why we offer and deliver face-to-face, online and hybrid courses.

  • On-campus, face-to-face classes require students to a campus location on designated days and times. In some cases, students on all four COTC campus locations may attend the same class on the same day and time through DTEN video conferencing technology. DTEN technology is only available in certain classrooms for streaming of live instruction by a faculty member.
  • Online classes do not have scheduled days and times to meet. Students login to the college’s learning management system (Canvas) to complete their coursework.
  • Hybrid classes are a combination of face-to-face and online learning. There will be days and times where class meets on campus, but less frequently than a course that meets fully face-to-face.
