Appointments

Heiser, PhD, Eric A. Provost, has been appointed to serve on Ohio’s Military Strategic Implementation Team (MSIT). MSIT was created to provide guidance and oversight on the implementation of Ohio HB488 recommendations across Ohio’s public colleges and universities ensuring that veterans are receiving the appropriate credit and credentialing for their military training, experience and coursework. December 2020.

Heiser, PhD, Eric A. Provost, has been appointed to the Commission on Economic and Workforce Development of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). He will serve a three-year term (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2023).

Maple, EdD, Vicki, Vice President for Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Solutions, has been appointed to the Commission on Economic and Workforce Development of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). She will serve a three-year term (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2023).

Awards and Honors

Arnold, MSW, LISW-S, HS-BCP, Tressa, Human Services Program Director, is recipient of the Region 8 Social Worker of the Year award from the National Association of Social Workers.

Bressoud, Suzanne C. director of marketing and public relations for Ohio State Newark and COTC was presented the 2020 Julius S. and Joette Greenstein Award from Central Ohio Technical College and The Ohio State University at Newark, August 2020.

Goudy, PhD, Kimberly (full-time) has been awarded the Teaching Excellence Award for the 2019-20 academic year by Central Ohio Technical College. This award is presented annually to one full-time and one part-time faculty member in recognition of and to promote teaching excellence. Faculty members are nominated by enrolled students with the winner selected by a faculty committee.

Gualtieri, Percella has been awarded the 2020 Elsevier Educator of the Year award by the Foundation of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN). November 2020.

Kirst, Pamela (part-time) has been awarded the Teaching Excellence Award for the 2019-20 academic year by Central Ohio Technical College. Read, Kris, manager of web and digital learning, was named to the Newark Advocate’s “20 Under 40 Award” which recognizes outstanding young professionals who have distinguished themselves in Licking County each year.

Walker, EJD, MS, RN, FAADN, Sandra Y. COTC dean for technical studies, has been selected for induction into the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing’s (OADN) Academy for Associate Degree Nursing (AADN) by the fellows of the AADN. Walker’s designation as a fellow of the AADN, recognizing her outstanding contributions to associate degree nursing education, will be officially bestowed during the annual OADN 2020 Virtual Town Hall meeting.

Walker, EJD, MS, RN, Sandra Y., COTC dean of technical studies, was presented the 2020 Bobbie Anderson Leadership Award by the Foundation of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) in a virtual award ceremony. The award is given annually to an educator or nursing program administrator who has demonstrated exceptional leadership within his or her institution and community, at the state and national levels. (November 2020).

Weirick, EdD, Chad W. COTC dean of general education and transfer programs, was presented the Dissertation of the Year award from The University of West Florida. His dissertation topic was Assessing Multiple Placement Methods for College Mathematics at a Two-Year College. Weirick completed his Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Assessment in May 2019. The award was presented via a virtual ceremony on August 21, 2020.

Bowman, RRT, RN, MSN, MEd, DNP, Kris, Associate Professor, has completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Northern Kentucky. August 2020.

Cooperider, EdD, MSN, RN, Susan, assistant professor, has completed her Doctorate of Education in Education and Leadership Healthcare from Nebraska Methodist College, conferred December 2020. 

Orr, Lisa, assistant director of business and finance, has graduated as a fellow of the first Ohio Leadership Academy for Student Success. The academy, organized by the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC) is the first of its kind in the nation to gather mid-level administrators, faculty and staff for a year of training, exchanging ideas and immersion in how to promote student success. October 2020.

Weaver, Bruce, director of the Center for Student Success, has graduated as a fellow of the first Ohio Leadership Academy for Student Success.
