Degrees and Certificates at Knox
COTC offers some career-ready associate degrees and certificates and transfer associate degrees in full* at the Knox campus through a combination of in-person and remote learning.**
Individual general education courses for COTC’s 50+ programs or transfer-friendly credit to other state universities are also available.
Plus, high school students participate in our College Credit Plus program earning transfer-friendly college credit – some finishing a certificate or associate degree before they earn their high school diploma – and saving thousands on their college tuition.
Career-ready Associate Degrees
Gain the skills for a new career or career advancement with an associate degree:
- Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) to Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) (autumn semester)
Career-ready Certificates
Gain the job skills for a career in one or two semesters. COTC certificates also count toward an associate degree, helping students advance on a long-term career path with a short-term commitment:
Healthcare:
- Electrocardiograph Technician Certificate (autumn semester)
- Patient Care Technician Certificate (autumn semester)
- Phlebotomy Certificate (summer semester)
Nursing:
- Practical Nursing Certificate (summer semester)
- State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) Certificate (autumn and spring semesters)
Transfer Associate Degrees
Complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree:
Transfer seamlessly to any public four-year institution in Ohio, and even a few private universities. Our transfer degrees are the equivalent of the first two years of a bachelor’s degree, so you can enter the university as a junior.
College Credit Plus
Through a partnership with Knox County public schools, high school students can complete COTC’s transfer-friendly Associate of Arts before they earn their diploma. Many graduates go on to universities, starting as a junior, to complete a bachelor’s degree in half the time and at half the cost.
*While we make every effort to run the following programs in full at the Knox campus, some courses and/or programs may be canceled due to low enrollment.
**Remote learning options include courses that are delivered online, via Zoom or in our video-connected classrooms. View all learning formats.
Katherine McCoy
Associate of Arts in Psychology
After being diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder alopecia universalis in 2016 and losing her hair to it, Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) student Katherine McCoy thought she had lost herself.
“Initially it was devastating for me. I felt as if I had lost my identity. Throughout the years, I have grown to accept and embrace my hair loss,” she said.
McCoy realized that a career helping others through their own difficulties would be the perfect way to redefine the possibilities of her life.
