Overview

Thanks to the generosity of our many donors, Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) offers more than 80 different scholarships totaling over $1.3 million each year! Below is a list of scholarships available to COTC students. 

Most scholarships do not require students to do anything other than be admitted and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year. Those that require a separate application are noted. 

Applications are typically available in January each year with a due date of  March 15, except where noted.

American Legion Post #65 Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund with gifts from the American Legion Post #65.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Program or Major: A student must be pursuing a certificate or degree in the medical field.
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in the city of Coshocton or in Coshocton County.
  • Military/Veteran: First preference is given to a veteran or immediate family member (wife or child of the veteran). Additional preference will be given to a grandchild, niece, or nephew of the veteran.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

The scholarship application is released in January and due in March each year.

Calvin E. Roebuck Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Newark Campus Development Fund with gifts from his wife, Lydia Roebuck, and other memorial gifts honoring Mr. Roebuck’s lifetime service.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Program or Major: A student must be pursuing a certificate or degree in business or accounting.
  • Student must demonstrate high moral character, leadership and a sense of perseverance.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

The scholarship application is released in January and due in March each year.

COTC Board of Trustees Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes continuing students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Community Service: Students must demonstrate a commitment to community service.
  • Financial Need: Financial need is determined by a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

The scholarship application is released in January and due in March each year.

Douglas and Beverly Donaldson Scholarship

This scholarship was established with gifts from Douglas and Beverly Donaldson to provide scholarships to students majoring in a healthcare field.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Program or Major: A student must be pursuing a certificate or degree in a healthcare field.
  • Preference is given to employees of the Inns Management Company.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

The scholarship application is released in January and due in March each year.

Englefield Family Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund with gifts from The Englefield Family Foundation.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Preference given to employees of Englefield, Inc. and their children.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

The scholarship application is released in January and due in March each year.

Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority (Port Authority) STEM scholarship

The Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority (Port Authority) STEM scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund with gifts from the Port Authority to provide scholarships to students attending Central Ohio Technical College and/or The Ohio State University at Newark.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?

Priority will be given in the following order and will cover tuition only:

  1. Employees of businesses located on the Central Ohio Aerospace Center Campus (the “COATC”)
    1. Not restricted to Licking County Residents
  2. Related Individuals (spouses, children, stepchildren, and individuals for whom an employee has guardianship) of employees on the COATC
    1. Not restricted to Licking County residents
  3. Licking County Residents pursing a degree in a STEM related discipline

Iris L. Hicks Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Mr. Les Hicks in memory of his wife. Mrs. Iris Hicks was an exemplary and inspirational nurse and teacher that served her students in a variety of ways but her most important impact on them was her daily example of overcoming hardships while pursuing her goals.

J. Gilbert Reese Next Generation Community Leadership Award

This scholarship was established in 2019 to recognize Mr. Reese’s incredible legacy and visionary leadership and community support and to inspire the next generation of community leaders. The award is presented annually to one COTC student and one Ohio State Newark student in November. Each recipient receives a framed certificate and a $2,000 scholarship is applied to their tuition for the following spring semester

  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Leadership and Community Involvement Performance: Recognizes a student with demonstrated leadership on and off campus who exemplifies a spirit of volunteerism and community involvement while involved in student activities, clubs or organizations.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

Students must meet the requirements and complete a separate application to be considered for this scholarship.

The scholarship application is available in the fall each year.

James and Nancy Bradley Diversity Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the generous donations from friends of Eleanor Jackson.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • The donor’s desire is that when awarding this scholarship special consideration be given for students who have experience living or working in diverse environments.
  • Financial Need: Financial need is determined by a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Academic Program or Major: A student must be pursuing a certificate or degree in a health science programs or law enforcement programs.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

The scholarship application is due May 15.

Judy Ratliff Stansbury Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Judy Ratliff Stansbury in 2009.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Program: This scholarship is awarded to graduates of the COTC Human Services Technology Associate Degree who have been accepted in the OSU College of Social Work BA or MSW program.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

The scholarship application is released in January and due in March each year.

Karen L. Schuman Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of The Newark Campus Development Fund, with gifts from H. David Schuman.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Financial Need: Financial need is determined by a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live or be from Licking County.
  • A student must be the child of a Park National Bank employee, who has been employed by the bank for a minimum of five years.

KBW Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund through a combined $2 million gift from the Ariel Corporation and Ariel Foundation as part of the Next Generation Challenge Scholarship Campaign.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Financial Need: Financial need is determined by a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in Knox County.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

The scholarship application is released in January and due in March each year.

Licking County Senior Levy Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund, with a gift from the Licking County Senior Levy.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Age Requirement: Students must be a minimum age of 60.
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in Licking County.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

The scholarship application is released in January and due in March each year.

Licking Memorial Health Systems Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Preference given to employees of Licking Memorial Health System (LMHS) or their immediate family members (spouse or children. If there are no eligible candidates, scholarships will be broadly offered to students pursuing degrees in health-related fields.

Mike Johnson McDonald’s Scholarship

Established by Brian and Janine Mortellaro in memory of James Michael “Mike” Johnson, who was employed as the Physical Plant Supervisor at Mortellaro McDonald’s for more than 20 years.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a minimum 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Academic Program or Major: A student must be pursuing a certificate or degree in Engineering, Nursing or Law Enforcement.
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in Guernsey, Holmes, Knox, Licking, Morrow, and Muskingum Counties.
  • Students must participate in extra-curricular activities and/or have work experience.

Park National Bank and Associates’ Next Generation Challenge Scholarship honoring William T. and Jane Cook McConnell

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund, with gifts from Park National Bank and its associates to honor William T. and Jane Cook McConnell.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: Students must earn a minimum 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Financial Need: A student’s financial need is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in one of the counties where Park National Bank is located.;

Robert O’Neill and Alexa Robinson-O’Neill Family Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund with gifts from Robert O’Neill and Alexa Robinson-O’Neill.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Age Requirement: Students must be a financially independent adult, age 30 or older, who are attending college to change or further their career.
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Preference is given to students who live in Licking County.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

The scholarship application is released in January and due in March each year.

William S. Moore III Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of The Newark Campus Development Fund with gifts from Sue O. Moore in memory of her loving husband, Bill.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in the city of Newark for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Students must possess an outlook for community service and a demonstrated desire to give back and help in his/her community.

The scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund and the Milliken Family.

Alexander and Lois J. Rolletta Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Rolletta to support students attending COTC. Mr. Rolletta taught business courses at COTC for 23 years.

This scholarship was established by Central Ohio Technical College Alumni Association to support second-year students.

Beverly Anderson Michalek Scholarship

This scholarship was established by David Anderson to honor his mother for all the things she taught him growing up. He attributes his passion for the community, the love for his family and the pride he takes in his work to his parents.

  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.

Christine and John L Warner Family Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund.

Clarence W. and Grace Marie Feil Scholarship

Established by Clarence and Grace Marie Feil.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a minimum high school or college GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Academic Program or Major: A student must be pursuing a certificate or degree in Engineering, Information Technology (IT), or Digital Media Design (DMD), with first preference being given to Engineering majors.

Students must meet the requirements and indicate on their COTC application that they are pursuing a degree in Engineering, Information Technology (IT), or Digital Media Design (DMD) to be considered for this scholarship.

College Credit Plus (CCP) Scholarship

This scholarship was established by COTC as an opportunity for College Credit Plus (CCP) students to continue taking classes at COTC after high school graduation. Students can be awarded $1,500 for two semesters each academic year for a total annual award of $3,000. The scholarship is renewed until completion of their first associate degree (must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and meet SAP). Students who complete their first associate degree through the CCP program while still in high school are not eligible for the CCP Scholarship.

  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance as a CCP student
    • High school graduation year 2024: minimum 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and a minimum of 3 credit hours of CCP completed with COTC
    • High school graduation year 2025 and later: minimum 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and a minimum of 12 credit hours of CCP completed with COTC
  • Must enroll in autumn or spring semester immediately following their high school graduation
  • Must enroll minimum of 6 hours each term
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

Students in good academic standing as a CCP student, who (re)apply to COTC and file the FAFSA, are automatically considered for this scholarship to continue attending COTC after high school graduation.

Community Bank Business and Finance Scholarship

This scholarship was established by The Community Bank to assist students from Licking and Coshocton Counties.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a minimum 2.75 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Academic Program or Major: A student must be pursuing a certificate or degree in Business Management or Accounting Technology.
  • Financial Need: Financial need is determined by a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in either Licking or Coshocton County.

Coshocton Foundation Jones Metal Products Company Adult Scholarship

This scholarship was established by The Coshocton Foundation Board of Directors, Ms. Marion Sutton and the Jones Metal Products Company.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Age Requirement: Students must be a minimum age of 21.
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in Coshocton County and attend the COTC Coshocton campus.
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

Students who meet the requirements and are a minimum age of 21 according to their COTC application will automatically be considered for this scholarship.

COTC Presidential Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees with generous donations from the friends and colleagues of COTC President Dr. Bonnie Coe in honor of her retirement.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Financial Need: Financial need is determined by a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
How can a student be considered for this scholarship?

Dale Berkhouse Memorial Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees through the generosity of the family and friends of Dale Berkhouse. 

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
  • Academic major: Preference shall be given to returning adult students pursing a nursing degree.
  • Financial need: Financial need is determined by a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Darrell S. Jones Scholarship

Established through a bequest from Mr. Jones’ Will, and administered by the Governing Committee of the Licking County Foundation.

Drexel A. and Josie Montanaro Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund and the Montanero Family.

  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in Licking County for at least 5 years or have attended a Licking County High School.

Dupler Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Dupler Brothers and is given to a student who graduated from a Licking County High School who is enrolled in Law Enforcement.

  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Academic Program or Major: A student must be pursuing a certificate or degree in Law Enforcement.

Edgar and Phyllis McCauley Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund with gifts from Edgar W. and Phyllis L. McCauley.

  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in Licking County.

Erin S. Kennedy Newark Rotary Club Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund and the Newark Rotarians.

  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must be Newark-based high school graduates or home schooled Newark residents.

Evans Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund with gifts from employees of First-Knox Bank and other Knox County Community members to honor the visionary leadership and extraordinary service of Gordon E. Yance.

  • Academic Performance: This scholarship recognizes students who have a history of good academic performance.
  • Geographic Location and/or High School: Students must live in Knox County.

Frances L. Ulmer Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Ulmer family.

George E. King Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Board of Trustees of the Newark Campus Development Fund and the King Family.

What are the requirements to be considered for this scholarship?
