Highlights of Bruce Hawkins’ work experience include 18 years as the CEO of the Management Council of the Ohio Education Computer Network (technology organization serving all of Ohio’s Schools), over 11 years as Knox County Educational Service Center superintendent and 11 years of experience as local superintendent and county office supervisor.

He is an active participant in the Knox community. Hawkins serves as a member of the Kiwanis Club, a board member of the Friends of Hospice of Knox County, a board member for the Winter Sanctuary (homeless shelter), president of the Mount Vernon City Council, ambassador to the Chamber of Commerce of Mount Vernon and Knox County, a member of the Republican Central and Executive Committees, a board member of Hospice of North Central Ohio. He serves on the Audit Committee for Knox County and on the Scholarship Review Committee for the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County, and is a Senior Warden of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church

Some of his professional highlights have included working with the legislature, administration and Ohio Department of Education to dramatically expand the internet bandwidth to all Ohio schools. He served as president of BASA (the state school superintendents’ organization) and was appointed by the president of the Ohio Senate to three state commissions. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ohio Educational Service Center Association.
