Fire with EMT
Short-Term Certificate
Overview
Many fire stations seek employees with skills in both firefighting and emergency medical services. You will gain entry-level skills in both fields by pursuing the fire with emergency medical technician (EMT) certificate.
With this certificate you can begin working in fire science and emergency medical services right away. Students are also encouraged to continue their education with the Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science Technology for advancement in a firefighting career.
Courses for the fire with EMT certificate are held in a variety of locations and at different times to give students flexibility. COTC provides certain courses on our campuses and partners with other businesses to complete the certificate requirements.
For fire science courses, students can choose to attend the Ohio Fire Academy or Career and Technology Education Centers (C-TEC). For the EMT course, students can choose to attend C-TEC, Knox Technical Center or Ohio Fire Academy. Learn more about COTC partner locations below.
