Overview

Central Ohio has become a major distribution hub for multiple large businesses, including Amazon, FedEx, Kohls, Intel and other suppliers/manufacturers. In order to prepare graduates for the logistics and supply chain management environment, COTC has developed a one-year certificate and an associate degree to address the need for trained, educated employees to support the major distribution growth occurring in Central Ohio.  

The Associate of Applied Business in Supply Chain Management is designed to provide the student with the opportunity to develop a sound understanding of the critical role of supply chain management in today’s business environment.

You receive an introduction to the field of supply chain management in conjunction with basic business management skills and a well-rounded general college education. Key components of this degree include project/operations management, manufacturing, logistics, strategic planning, scheduling and coordinating resources, purchasing and inventory management.

The Supply Chain Management One-Year Certificate provides working individuals with an opportunity to expand their skillset for career advancement or a career change.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, you will be able to:

  • Understand the essential roles of supply chain management and trends.
  • Apply the current supply chain theories, practices and concepts utilizing case problems and problem-based learning situations.
  • Utilize computer-based supply chain optimization tools, including selected state-of-the-art supply chain software suites.
  • Utilize critical management skills such as negotiating, planning, working effectively within a diverse business environment, and ethical decision-making.
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication, critical thinking, team building and presentation skills applied to business problems.
  • Apply value chain concepts to warehouse, distribution and transportation.

Industry-Recognized Credential

You may be eligible to take the APICS Certified Supply Chain Certification (CSCP) exam.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can I complete the supply chain management program?

COTC offers both a one-year certificate and an associate degree in supply chain management.

The associate degree can be completed in two years for students who take classes full time. Students who attend full time (and take 3-5 classes on average per semester) will complete quicker than students who attend part time (and take 1-2 classes on average per semester).

The certificate can be completed in as little as two semesters.  

Where can I find a list of classes (plan of study) for the program I want to study?

Each program at COTC has a plan of study that lists the courses students take to complete a certificate or degree. 

Can I take classes online or face-to-face?

The majority of the certificate or degree can be completed either online or on-campus. Some courses will require students to attend in-person.  

What type of financial assistance is available to help me pay for college?

COTC awards $1 million in scholarships to students each year.

Every student is encouraged to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for grants, scholarships and loans. 

Students who complete a FAFSA are automatically considered for some scholarships. Other scholarships require an application.
