Pre-Admission Requirements

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Pediatric Echo Cross Training Program is a selection-based program, meaning a student must meet requirements.

  1. Must be an employee of Nationwide Children’s Hospital
  2. Must be enrolled in Nationwide Children’s Hospital Pediatric Echocardiography Cross-Training Program
  3. Must have earned a bachelor’s degree in a health-related major (obtained from an accredited institution in the U.S) OR have earned an associate degree in a health-related major and have permission of the Program Director

 Helpful Information

ARDMS Prerequisite 3A Requirements

  1. Copy of  Bachelor’s Diploma (or Official Transcript) in health related field earned in the U.S. or Canada
  2. Completion of a minimum of 12 months of full-time clinical ultrasound experience*
  3. *Full-time defined as 1,680 hours. The full-time applies to both paid clinical experience and experience earned through an ultrasound program. 
  4. Letter from a supervising physician or ARDMS-registered sonographer (RDCS-AE) indicating completion of 12 months of full-time clinical experience including exact dates. 

CCI Prerequisite RCCS235  Requirements

  1. Copy of COTC Transcript showing completion of Pediatric Echocardiography Training
  2. Copy of previously completed Associate or Bachelor’s Diploma (or Official Transcript) in health related field earned in the U.S. or Canada
  3. Completion of a minimum of 12 months of full-time clinical ultrasound experience*
  4. Completion of a minimum of 600 cardiac ultrasound studies including pediatric and adult congenital
  5. Letter from physician or program director confirming 12 months of full-time clinical experience including exact dates and number of studies performed.
