Overview

The addiction studies certificate prepares you for entry-level positions in many community health programs. Coursework includes training in how to assist individuals and families with a variety of issues arising from addiction problems. This certificate is available to any COTC student from other disciplines that interact with substance use clients or related addiction issues.

By completing this course, you:

  • gain practical skills as well as education in mental health and psychology
  • build a strong foundation for academic progression in social work and addictions

The number of citizens affected by substance use disorder is in the millions, and Ohio is severely affected. With this certificate, you can begin working in addictions right away. You will also be prepared to continue your education with COTC’s Associate of Applied Science in Social Work Assistant.

Licensure

Students who have successfully completed the certificate program have fulfilled the requirements necessary to apply for licensure as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA).

COTC awards more than $1 million in scholarships to students each year.
