COTC and Barnes and Noble College are excited to announce a new textbook and course materials program: COTC Book Bundle. COTC Book Bundle is an affordable textbook rental program providing you with all your required course materials by the first day of class.

The COTC Book Bundle program gives you convenient access to all of your course materials. You will:

  • pay a fixed rate of $22.25 per credit hour.
  • save 35-50% on the cost of course materials each term
  • know the cost of your course materials for every terms based on the number of credits you register for
  • receive all your course materials by the first day of class
  • benefit from highly personalized service from our on-campus bookstore staff

This program does not apply to College Credit Plus students.


How It Works

Register for classes.

Upon registering for courses, you are automatically enrolled into the program, and the bookstore will begin preparing your materials. A $22.25 per credit hour charge is added to your student account.

You may opt out or back in at any time during the drop/add period.

Verify your order.

Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an email to verify your order and choose your delivery preference (shipped directly to you or in-store pickup).

You may also verify your order online.

Receive your textbooks.

An email notification is sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships.

Digital course materials will be delivered within Canvas.

What is the COTC Book Bundle program?

COTC Book Bundle is a course material model that lowers the cost of materials for students and ensures you have access to all of your required course materials on or before the first day of class. Through this new program, physical books will be conveniently packaged and provided to you on a rental basis, and digital materials will be delivered directly within Canvas. At the end of the term, you will receive email reminders to return your physical course materials to the bookstore.

How does it work?

  • Register for your classes, and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials.
  • One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you).
  • An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships.
  • Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Canvas.

Who is eligible to participate?

All students except College Credit Plus students are eligible to participate. 

What materials are included in the program?

The program provides all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and digital textbook versions to eligible students.

What materials are excluded from the program?

The program does not include course required supplies such as lab goggles, uniforms, lab kits, EKG calipers or nursing kits.

How do I enroll in the program?

All eligible students will be automatically enrolled in the COTC Book Bundle program.

Can I opt out of the program?

You have the option to opt out of the COTC Book Bundle program each semester during the opt-out window. The opt-out window is open for the first three weeks of the semester. By opting out, you will not receive their required materials in a convenient package and access to digital content will be removed after the opt-out window closes. Options for purchasing course materials after opting out can be found on the bookstore website. To begin the opt-out process, please follow this link: [link coming soon].

How do I change my opt-out status?

To change your opt-out status and opt into the COTC Book Bundle program, please click [link coming soon] or follow the instructions found in your opt-out confirmation email. Please note you must make your final selection by the end of the third week from the start of classes.*

*Final selections for summer semester must be complete by May 31, 2026.

How do I purchase my course materials if I decide to opt out of the program?

You will be responsible for purchasing your required course materials through the bookstore.

When are my textbook rentals due back to the bookstore?

The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of finals. You will receive email reminders about the rental deadline to your email address.

Can I buy my rented textbook?

Yes, the program provides you with the option to purchase textbooks at a reduced rate during the return period.

Do I need to return books if they are for a continuation course?

Yes (with a few lab manual exceptions), you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be reissued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course. You will receive an email at the end of the semester indicating which books to return.

What happens if I never verify my order?

You will receive emails and phone calls from the bookstore to remind you to verify their order and choose your fulfillment preference. If you do not opt out, your materials will be held at the bookstore and your student account will be charged.

If I never pick up my books, will I still get charged?

Yes, if the you do not opt out, your materials will be held at the bookstore and your student account will be charged.

What if I drop a class?

You may return the book to the bookstore on the same terms and timelines currently in place. If you drop a class and enroll in a different class, the bookstore will “swap” the required textbooks/codes so that you have what you need.

Can I opt out if I picked up my textbooks?

Yes, you will have 48 hours to return your textbooks. If you do not return the textbooks, the charges for the bundle will remain on your student account and you will be subject to a replacement and non-return processing fee.

How do I pay for my textbook rentals under this program?

You will be billed by Student Financial Services. If you have financial aid, charges are deducted from your financial aid. If no financial aid is available, you will be required to pay for your textbooks and course materials by the published tuition due dates. These charges can be included in the tuition payment plan.
