Step-by-Step Guide to Ordering Textbooks Online for CCP Students

Please speak with your school counselor before ordering, as your school may order your textbooks for you. If you are required to order your textbooks/materials, please follow the instructions below. You will receive an email when you are eligible to order books and materials. If you try to order before receiving the email, your order will be denied.

To order your textbooks, you will need your COTC email address and seven-digit student ID number (your COTC email address is your username with @cotcmail.cotc.edu added). Please only use your COTC email address when ordering textbooks and materials; do not use your high school or a personal email address.

If you are unsure what your COTC username is, use this link to retrieve it.

To locate your student ID number, go to myCOTC and locate the card that says, “Update Personal Information”. Choose the “Update Contact Information” option. Your ID number will be listed under your name next to COTC ID.

1. Go to cotc-newark.bncollege.com.
2. Find course materials and textbooks.

On the bookstore’s home page, look for COURSE MATERIALS & TEXTBOOKS in the main menu and then select “Find Course Materials” from the drop-down menu.

3. Enter your courses.

On the Find Course Materials page, enter the courses you are enrolled in for the upcoming semester. You can find this information on your schedule. For Term, select the option that includes “OPT OUT & CCP.” Once you have added your courses, click RETRIEVE MATERIALS at the bottom of the page.

4. Select a format.

The required and recommended course materials for each of your courses will autopopulate. CCP will only pay for required items.

For each item, select a format: rent (used or new), buy (used or new) or digital. We ask that you select “Used” when available.

  • Rent: If you select rental, you will be required to enter a debit or credit card to secure the rental. Your debit or credit card will only be charged if you fail to return the rental to the bookstore by the last day of final exams.
  • Digital*: There are two types of digital resources you may come across when ordering textbooks and materials.
    • Digital textbooks through YUZU: You will access and read your material through YUZU using your COTC email.
    • Courseware/etext with integrated online homework solutions: You will be sent an access code for YUZU to your COTC email. Copy the access code and paste it into the website provided by the faculty within Canvas.

*Please only use your COTC email address when ordering digital materials. This is the email address to which all digital resources will be delivered. Do not use your high school or a personal email address, and do not place another order if your materials do not arrive immediately. Reach out to the bookstore for assistance if this occurs.

5. Proceed to cart.

Once you have added all materials to your cart and are ready to check out, click PROCEED TO CART.

6. Select shipping method.

In your cart, select a shipping method for each item:

  • FAST In-Store Pickup (free pickup available only at Newark Campus bookstore)
  • Ship To Address

Click PROCEED TO CHECKOUT.

7. Sign in.

Click LOG IN WITH YOUR SCHOOL ACCOUNT. You will be redirected to the COTC secure login page to enter your COTC email address and password.

9. Enter your shipping address.

If you are shipping, enter your shipping address and select CONTINUE.

Change the shipping method to “UPS Ground Shipping.” This is the only shipping method covered by the CCP program. Select CONTINUE.

Please allow 24-48 hours for processing. UPS picks up Monday-Friday in the morning and does not make weekend deliveries. For example: Orders placed after noon on Friday will not be processed until Monday, picked up by UPS on Tuesday morning, and delivered on Wednesday whether selecting Ground or Next Day Air.

10. Enter your payment information.

If you are a public school student or private school student with funding:

  • Select FINANCIAL AID. You will be asked to enter credit card information. Please only enter this information if you are renting your textbook(s).
  • Check the box for “Internal Provider” and enter your seven-digit COTC student ID number.
  • Click APPLY PAYMENT METHODS. You should receive a message that funds have been applied.
  • Click PROCEED TO CHECKOUT.

If you are a homeschool student or private school student without funding:

  • You are responsible for the cost of all required textbooks and materials.
11. Finish order

Click “Place Order” on the order review page. Once your order has been submitted, you will receive an email with your order confirmation.

Note: If your order is unsuccessful for any reason, please address any payment method issues before submitting a new order. Additionally, ensure that the original order is cancelled before proceeding. Not doing so can lead to duplicate charges.

Frequently Asked Questions

As a College Credit Plus (CCP) student, how are textbooks and supplies paid for?

How and whether textbooks and supplies are paid for is dependent upon the type of CCP student.

  • Public school students who participate in CCP through an Ohio public college or university will have required textbook costs paid for by the high school. The college or university is responsible for the cost of required supplies.

  • Private school students must apply for funding to participate in CCP. If private school students receive funding to participate in CCP, then required textbooks will be paid for by the high school. Additional required supplies must be provided by the college or university.
  • Homeschool students must apply for funding to participate in CCP. Homeschool students must pay for their required textbooks and supplies even if they receive funding to participate in CCP.

Cost is not covered for recommended books and recommended supplies, regardless of the type of CCP student. It is a student’s choice whether to pay out of pocket for recommended books and supplies.

How do I know what textbooks and supplies are required for a class, and what is the difference between required and recommended textbooks and supplies?

Required textbooks and supplies are determined by each course professor. They are listed on the course syllabus and the bookstore website.

Courses and professors at COTC may choose to have recommended textbooks and supplies on the syllabus, which may or may not be on the college bookstore website, in addition to required books and supplies.

As a College Credit Plus student, how do I get textbooks and supplies for my courses?

We recommend students talk with their guidance counselor regarding textbooks for CCP classes to determine whether the school will provide books or whether students will be responsible for getting their books.

If your guidance counselor directs you to order your textbooks, students can view and rent/purchase books from the COTC bookstore operated by Barnes and Noble. Refer to the instructions above and with your CCP enrollment navigator with questions. COTC will reimburse the cost of supplies listed as required on the course syllabus.

Can all books and supplies be purchased and/or rented through the bookstore?

Most books and supplies can be purchased through the COTC bookstore; however, there are some supplies that are not sold at the COTC bookstore:

  • Required information regarding scrubs, shoes or uniform items for a COTC healthcare course will be given to students upon registration of the course.
    • COTC will only reimburse for one complete uniform/scrub set and up to $50 for shoes.
  • Required software for courses will be available on designated computers on each campus.

To request reimbursement, a legible, itemized receipt must be submitted to the CCP enrollment navigator via email at ccp@mail.cotc.edu.

Are there courses at COTC that have other requirements that are not books or supplies?

Yes, some courses at COTC have other requirements that must be met.

  • Background check: Students must talk with their CCP enrollment navigator prior to getting a background check, and the cost will be covered by COTC. Students do not need to pay up front for background checks that are completed on the COTC campus in Newark.
  • Drug screening: Students must talk with their CCP enrollment navigator prior to completing this on their own. Students must provide a legible, itemized receipt to submit for reimbursement.
  • TB testing: Students must talk with their CCP enrollment navigator prior to completing this on their own. Students must provide a legible, itemized receipt to submit for reimbursement.
