Statement of Purpose

The Office of Judicial Services is responsible for acting on behalf of the College/University in matters of student discipline. Judicial Services deal with alleged instances of behavioral misconduct and academic dishonesty, in order to determine how best to resolve these allegations consistent with the goals and mission of the College/University as an educational and intellectual community.

Student Judicial Services is chiefly responsible for the promotion of campus community standards.  Judicial processes protect the rights of students as well as the programs, property and persons on the Newark campus.  The judicial affairs process educates students about rights and responsibilities and provides students with information concerning conduct issues, judicial policies and non-academic discipline procedures. The Office of Judicial Services has twin goals: to help create a safe environment where academic life can flourish; and to promote the development of students.​

COTC Appeals Process

Central Ohio Technical College students have the right to appeal issues which include matters of final course grades, academic suspension or probation, academic dishonesty, dismissal from a program or course, financial aid decisions concerning standards of academic progress and results of grievance. ​​

Collin’s Law (Hazing) Report 2023-24

As part of Central Ohio Technical College’s commitment to promoting a safe and healthy campus environment, members of the college community have the right to be free from all forms of hazing, which impede the college’s realization of their mission and values. The college does not tolerate hazing in any form and all members of the college community must conduct themselves in a manner that supports an environment free from hazing.

In compliance with Collin’s Law, this will serve as the report of all hazing violations under the Code of Student Conduct from 2017 through Dec. 31, 2023. This report is up to date and in accordance with the current Jan. 1, 2024, reporting deadline.

Personal identifying information for individual students, including organization names, will be removed in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.

From 2017 through this publication date, there have been no complaints or reports received by the college and no investigations or adjudications through the Code of Student Conduct have occurred.
