The purpose of the Mathematics Discipline is to provide high quality, accessible math course that build a strong foundation for further math courses, support each technical program and further the personal goals of students.

To accomplish the stated purpose of the Mathematics Discipline, this department embraces the concept of quantitative literacy as set forth by the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges. As such, the following student learning outcomes are expected.

The purpose of the Biological and Physical Sciences Department at Central Ohio Technical College is to provide a sound introduction to scientific principles, laboratory techniques, and general knowledge in the fields of biology, chemistry, and physics and to provide college preparatory science for the under-prepared student. To accomplish this purpose, the student learning outcomes are as follows:

Statement of Purpose
The goal of the English and Communications Department is to provide and assess quality learning opportunities in which students actively work to develop their skills in reading, writing, researching, speaking, listening, and thinking. The student will be able to read, comprehend, and analyze the power of written and spoken words; determine audience needs and convey ideas using written, spoken, and presentational communication skills in individual and group settings.
