Student Planning is an exciting new tool that makes managing your academic life easy!
You can use Student Planning to track your progress toward your degree or certificate, plan your class schedule, and register for classes.
To access Student Planning, log in to
myCOTC with your COTC username and password. Under the
Student menu, select
Student Planning allows you to view your progress toward completion of your declared academic program through the My Progress feature. The My Progress feature is color coded to allow you a quick view of what you have completed or is currently in progress (green), what you have scheduled or planned for future semesters (yellow) and what you still need to complete (red).
- The At a Glance section shows your cumulative and institutional GPA, declared program of study and catalog year and progress bars indicating your progress toward completing the credit hours required for your program.
- The Requirements section shows the courses required to complete your degree or certificate.
- The Other Courses section shows any coursework you have completed that does not apply directly to your degree or certificate program.
View New Programs
If you are thinking about changing your academic program, Student Planning allows you to View a New Program and see your current progress toward any COTC degree or certificate program. You can use this feature to get an idea of what courses you have already completed or would need to take to complete a different program. To officially change your academic program, you will need to meet with your Academic Advisor.
Student Planning has a robust course planning feature that allows you to build a course sequence for your academic program for multiple semesters in advance using your My Progress to ensure you are taking the courses you need for graduation. Your Academic Advisor will work with you to build your course plan or you can build the plan and request your Advisor to review and approve. The course planning feature allows you to plan, schedule, and register for the courses that you need.
Student Planning allows you to register for classes in two different ways. You can use Student Planning to search and register for courses individually, or you can register directly from your course plan. Student Planning does not replace academic advising, but allows students to interact with their advisor electronically. Students can still schedule an appointment with their Academic Advisor in The Gateway for assistance with academic program questions, course scheduling, and more.
