High School Partners

High School Partners

In support of Ohio House Bill 487 and the creation of Ohio's College Credit Plus program, Central Ohio Technical College will enter into partnership agreements with a variety of high schools in our service area for the purpose of offering college-level coursework to students in grades 7 through 12.

Three Ways to Offer Courses:

  • Option A:  A COTC course is offered at the local school district with a high school teacher credentialed as a COTC adjunct faculty member*.
  • Option B: A  COTC course is offered at the local school district with a COTC faculty member.
  • Option C: Students take college courses at any of COTC's four campuses or online

*The Higher Learning Commission and the Ohio Department of Education require a Master's degree plus 18 hours in subject area.

COTC will adhere to the default funding model as prescribed in the College Credit Plus legislation (Section 333-1-65.6 and 3365.07 of the Ohio Revised Code). This model uses as a basis the K-12 foundation funding as determined annually by the legislature and this funding is split between the college and the school district based on the model of instruction and educational environment. Also in the default model, textbooks are the responsibility of of the school district.  The students or parents do not bear any cost for student participation under College Credit Plus.

In addition to individual courses, COTC has developed 15 and 30 credit hour pathways strategically focused on TAG and OTM coursework leading toward COTC's transfer degrees, Associate of Arts and Associate of Science, as well as many of the college's 40 associate degree programs. Committed to the College Credit Plus foundational theme of innovation, COTC will work with the district to customize pathways and offer relevant coursework to meet the needs of the students and the workforce needs of the region.

This partnership signifies a unified commitment to Ohio's young people and to the future of the state, as we work together to prepare an educated and technically trained workforce.

High Schools who would like to pursue partnering with COTC to offer coursework in their school should contact Callum Morris, Manager of CCP at morris.1550@cotc.edu or the College Credit Plus staff at ccp@cotc.edu
