Two students workign together in classAccounting technology education provides students with extensive opportunities for employment. Accounting Technology students become proficient in computerized accounting and spread sheet software. Curriculum provides knowledge in:

  • Cost Management
  • Finance
  • Governmental Accounting
  • Payroll
  • Taxation
  • Fraud Examination
  • Forensic Accounting
  • Managerial Accounting
Upon completion, graduates receive an Associate of Applied Business (A.A.B.) in Accounting Technology. Graduates are prepared for employment in industry, public accounting firms, small businesses, government agencies, and financial institutions. 

Bookkeeping Skills Certificate

The certificate curriculum includes 7 courses consisting of 16 credit hours, emphasizing computerized data entry and basic accounting skills. All courses in the Bookkeeping Skills certificate are also included in the Accounting Technology plan of study.

Employment of accountants and auditors is expected to grow faster than average for all occupations through the year 2020. Graduates will find full-time and part-time job opportunities are available. In addition to openings resulting from growth, the need to replace accountants and auditors who retire or transfer to other occupations will produce numerous job openings in this large occupation.
