How do I get in touch with a coach?
All of our coaches (head and assistant) are part-time, temporary employees, and most have full-time outside jobs and other off campus responsibilities. Typically, coaches are only on campus for team practices and games during their teams’ respective seasons. If you would like to get in touch with any of our head coaches, you can find links to their email address on our STAFF page or you can contact the Athletics Office at 740-366-1351 ext. 20106 – we’ll be happy to take a message and pass it along to the appropriate coach!

What varsity sports do you currently offer?
As of September 2011, we offer women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s softball, men’s basketball, men’s baseball, and golf.
Do you offer athletic scholarships?
No. We do not offer athletic scholarships, athletics-based financial aid, or athletics-based housing.
Are your varsity sports teams members of the NCAA?
No. None of our varsity sports teams are members of the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, USCAA, or any other national intercollegiate athletic association. Our varsity sports teams are members of and compete in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC), an independent sports organization that serves the regional campuses of Ohio.
Are there academic eligibility requirements?
Yes. Our campus follows the eligibility guidelines set forth by the Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC). Student-athletes must be enrolled in and complete a minimum of seven credit hours at Ohio State Newark or COTC (four of which must be for a letter grade) during each quarter of athletic participation. Student-athletes must also maintain either a cumulative GPA of 1.70 or higher OR have earned a 1.70 GPA or higher their previous quarter of enrollment. Students transferring in from non-ORCC schools only need to meet the seven credit hour enrollment requirement; GPAs do not transfer.
Do I have to be enrolled at Ohio State Newark or Central Ohio Technical College in order to participate on a varsity sports team?
Either. All of our varsity sports teams are open to students from both Ohio State Newark and Central Ohio Technical College. Ohio State enrolled students MUST be enrolled in at least 7 credit hours on the Newark Campus during quarters of athletic participation.
Do years of athletic participation at your campus count towards my eligibility at other schools?
Maybe. This is determined by the institution you are looking to transfer to on a case-by-case basis. Student-athletes looking to eventually transfer to other institutions and participate in athletics are STRONGLY encouraged to confer with those institutions in regards to how athletic participation on our campus relates to their specific eligibility guidelines BEFORE participating here.
Do years of athletic participation at another school count towards my eligibility at your campus?
Yes. Student-athletes have four years of eligibility on our campus. Each year of athletic participation at another institution counts towards those four years. For example, if a student-athlete participated in athletics for three years at another institution and transfers here, he/she will have 1 year of eligibility remaining in that sport on our campus.
