Serve Your Community at COTC’s Basic Police Academy
Central Ohio Technical College’s Institute for Public Safety offers Basic Police Officer Training designed to prepare students to meet the requirements of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council. Successful graduates of this program will be recommended to take the state certification examination.
Benefits of the Program:
• Two optional schedule tracks to help you reach your goal of completion
• Graduates of the Basic Police Academy will earn 22 college credits which can be applied toward an Associate of Applied Science degree in Law Enforcement Technology.
• Successful cadets of this program will be eligible to gain employment as police officers, deputy sheriffs, armed security officers, court officers, and many other positions.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the median annual wage of police and detectives was $55,010.
