Digital Media Design Technology- Graphics Design Option

Design your future with a Digital Media Design Degree at COTC

The Digital Media Design curriculum is a broad-based exploration of the process and the business of digital design. Students can expect to study the principles of design, color theory, and typography in addition to courses in specific digital software tools. Skills taught include critical thinking, design approaches, the underlying theories of digital media, and production techniques. The curriculum is focused on developing the student’s technical skills and creative vision, with an emphasis on building a portfolio that will prepare the student to enter the workforce in a variety of digital media fields:

Web design & development

Magazine & Newspaper publishing

Illustration & Marketing graphics

Virtual reality/simulation design

Portrait/wedding photography

Advertising & Photojournalism

Video production

2-D & 3-D animation

The field of digital media is expected to increase dynamically over the next few years. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics states that employment of graphic designers is projected to increase by 13 percent from 2010 to 2020. This means that there is a good job growth for graphic designers. Upon successful completion of the program students will receive an Associates of Art Degree in graphic media design.
