Fire Science Technolgy Program - Statement of Purpose and Learning Outcomes 

Learning Outcomes

At the completion of the Fire Science Technology plan of study the student will be able to:

  1. 1. Develop management and leadership skills necessary to advance
  2.     effectively in the organizational structures of fire science fields
  3. 2. Employ a working knowledge of the basic field equipment, strategies,
  4.     and tactics that relate to various kinds of specific fire situations
  6. 3. Demonstrate information and computer literacy, problem-solving,
  7.     decision-making, critical-thinking, interpersonal, and communication
  8.     skills and cultural sensitivities integral to success in public service
  9.     professions
  10. 4. Exhibit a thorough understanding of the laws, ordinances, and
  11.     practices  related to fire prevention, protection, suppression,
  12.     mitigation, and alarm systems
  13. 5. Identify common causes and methods of countering fire, including the
  14.     motives and types of arson, and the tools and methodologies available
  15.     in fire and arson investigation
