Educational Opportunities for Students and Businesses
Partnerships
Listen to Dr. Coe's Message below:
Welcome! I am Dr.
Bonnie L. Coe, President of Central Ohio Technical College.
COTC is an
associate-degree granting institution, located on a shared campus with
The Ohio State University regional campus in Newark, Ohio. We also
operate two satellite campus locations … one campus is located in
Coshocton county and another is located in Knox County. Both locations
are within one hour of our campus.
COTC is celebrating 35
years of serving the education and training needs of central Ohio. The
college was chartered by the Ohio Board of Regents in 1971, to help meet
the state’s growing need for a technology-driven workforce through
affordable, high quality education. It was initially established to
serve Licking County, but in 1980 the Regents enlarged the college’s
service area to include Knox and Coshocton counties. Today, we draw
students from more than twelve surrounding counties.
In addition to
our geographic expansion, over the years we have also added buildings to
our Newark campus, our “home base” if you will, to accommodate the
increasing enrollment. This spring, we will begin construction of the
Warner Library and Student Center. This will be a state-of-the-art
library and student center, a much needed resource for the entire campus
and the community.
In 2003, Central Ohio
Technical College was named Ohio’s fastest growing college. I am
delighted that we have experienced such tremendous growth. In Autumn of
1971, one hundred and fourteen new students at Central Ohio Technical
College helped to lay the groundwork for many more students to come. It
was very exciting when, our headcount enrollment soared to
three-thousand and fifty-one students in Autumn of 2005!
Currently, a COTC student
may choose from thirty-seven associate degree and certificate programs
in rapidly-growing career fields such as business, engineering, computer
applications, health care and public service. Some of our
highest-enrollment numbers are in the health care and business fields.
In order to provide well-rounded educational opportunities for our
students, we have formed partnerships with other institutions so that
our graduates can transition toward a bachelor’s degree. We also
partner with businesses and secondary schools to offer students of all
ages, greater hands-on, practical experience.
I am always open to
discuss the potential for partnerships or other collaborative
opportunities. I have found that collaborative relationships often
contribute to positive change that impacts student and graduate
success. Central Ohio Technical College has established a reputation
for graduate success, and we continually seek out new and innovative
ways to achieve that success. Thank you so much for your interest in
Central Ohio Technical College! I certainly would welcome your visit to
our campus any time, and I look forward to the possibility of meeting
with you in the future. |
