Central Ohio Technical College offers a four-semester transition degree option for licensed practical nurses (LPNs) to complete education they need to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam and become registered nurses (RNs). LPNs provide basic nursing care and are typically responsible for the comfort of a patient. RNs typically administer medication, treatments and offer educational advice to patients. RNs often supervise LPNs.

• Carefully planned clinical laboratory experiences are an integral part of all nursing courses and encompass caring for persons in various age groups who need nursing care for a variety of reasons.
• The curriculum provides a balance of general education and nursing courses and has been developed to provide a strong foundation for academic progression in nursing. 
• The pre-licensure nursing programs at COTC prepare graduates to continue their education and pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

License/Credentialing Eligibility

• Graduates are awarded an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing and are eligible to take the licensing exam, National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), to become registered nurses (RNs).
