Registered nurses (RNs) are an integral part of a healthcare team. RNs typically administer medication, treatments and offer educational advice to patients. RNs often supervise licensed practical nurses (LPNs). COTC graduates of the ADN program are prepared to function in beginning staff-level RN positions in a variety of healthcare facilities and are also prepared to continue their education if they choose to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

According to the Department of Labor, RNs are projected to create the second largest number of new jobs among all occupations. Thousands of job openings will result from the need to replace experienced nurses who leave the occupation, especially as the median age of the RN population continues to rise.

• Affiliated healthcare facilities in central and east-central Ohio are utilized to provide clinical experiences for students.

License/Credentialing Eligibility

• Graduates are awarded an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Technology and are eligible to apply to take the licensing exam, National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), to become registered nurses (RNs).
