Associate of Applied Business in Accounting Technology

Overview

The accounting technology associate degree prepares students for employment in financial institutions, accounting firms, government agencies and in a wide variety of businesses and industries. Students become proficient in computerized accounting and spreadsheet software. The accounting technology program curriculum includes coursework to teach students about auditing, taxation, fraud examination, forensic accounting, finance and cost management.

    The Associate of Applied Business (AAB) in Accounting Technology at COTC can be completed almost entirely online. Students can still choose to take face-to-face as well as online classes in the accounting technology program. The accounting technology program gives students flexibility to take classes that work with their schedule.

    The accounting technology program has a bookkeeping certificate that can be completed in just one semester. Completion of the bookkeeping certificate can provide students the flexibility and opportunity to quickly seek employment and continue to take classes to pursue the accounting technology associate degree.

    Transferability

    Students who earn an AAB in Accounting Technology can continue on to pursue a bachelor’s degree at nearby colleges and universities.
