Welcome Dual Enrollment Instructors!

We look forward to working with you, your students and your high school staff to offer COTC college courses taught by you!  Have your credentials reviewed for COTC adjunct instructor status approval and to teach a COTC college course for your high school students during the regular high school day.  COTC currently has 40 high school partners and the list is growing!  The links below provide helpful resources for getting started, sample syllabus, course descriptions and the Dual Enrollment Faculty Handbook.

FAQ's

How does the program work?

High school qualified instructors receive COTC adjunct instructor status through a credential review process and teach COTC courses at the high school during the regular high school day.  This is convenient to both the high school student and the high school/adjunct instructor.  High school/adjunct instructors are matched to a COTC faculty partner for assistance with the syllabus and course questions.  High school/adjunct instructors will be required to attend a half-day professional development program in June.  The high school agreement and teacher's agreement forms provide additional information.

High School Instructor Qualifications:

Instructors or administrators may send resumes and transcripts to be reviewed at any time to High School Options at cotcgateway@cotc.edu Instructors need to have at least a Master's degree which includes 18 graduate semester hours in the content area.  Another option is to have earned a Master's degree in the content area.  For technical courses, both experience and education will be considered.

What are the costs?

No fees are charged to the school district or high school.  School districts receive full subsidy for the dual enrollment program students.  Tuition is free for students!

What about grades?

Students earn both high school and college credits. Once the student has completed the dual enrollment course, a grade is recorded on the COTC  transcript. The grade received from the high school instructor is the grade that is recorded on the student's COTC transcript.
