Kathleen's interest in computers can be traced back to 1978 when she joined her high school’s Explorer’s Club and eventually found herself at the keyboard of a CRT connected to a gigantic computer at Western Electric. She was hooked after having one look at that tiny screen with its black background and amber blinking cursor.
Her background is in marketing. She found her calling as the person companies hired to tap new markets and territories, and she was very successful at it. In addition to the logistics and work of marketing itself, she soon found herself designing every type of marketing material known to mankind and loving it.
Next came college. At the age of 37, she enrolled in a brand new degree program called “Digital Media Design” at COTC. She graduated two and a half years later (with honors) and subsequently landed a job as the Vice President of Marketing and Technology for the highest dollar volume realty group in Ohio. She ended up being responsible for every visual material produced in the office for both the web and in print. For her it was nirvana! Websites, print work, and photography. Sales soared during her tenure as did her knowledge and experience in the industry.
Then one of her former instructors from COTC called and asked if she would like to teach. Part-time teaching soon turned into full time teaching, and she is now a full-time instructor at her first alma mater teaching what she loves, design in all its shapes, forms, and mediums.
