ECD Students - Acceptance into the ECD Program

A Student Practicum File must be developed and completed prior to registration for all participatory fieldwork and for admission in the ECD Program.  Participatory Field work includes the following courses: 5615 Managing Children in Groups, 5621, 5631 and 5641 ECD Field Practicum, 5637 Creative Arts Across the Curriculum, 5638 Children Literature, 5649 ECD Math and Science and 5666 ECD Student Teaching. 

The file consists of the following documents:  * required college form 

 A copy of High School diploma, or a copy of the transcript, or a copy of the GED certificate, or verification of completion of high school. 

* Three (3) letters of reference from a non-relative who can address your character in working with families and children. 

* An updated physical (current with in the past year) completed by licensed physician.

* A signed statement attesting that the individual has not been convicted of or pleaded guilty to child abuse or crimes of violence or any felony. 

* A signed Confidentiality Statement

BCII Criminal records check/finger printing (local and state and if absent from Ohio in the past five years a federal check.    

FORMAL NOTICE:  Student placement in Practicum courses will be terminated if the BCII check reveals criminal activity resulting in failure to meet ODE or ODJFS guidelines because Graduation from the ECD Program will not be possible.

Note: Students will be required to carry or have access to disposable latex seamless gloves at all practicum sites in compliance with OSHA standards.
