ECD Current Students - Promotion within the Program

Students are retained in the program according to college and program procedures.  Students receiving a grade of C- (73% or below) in any ECD course will meet with a program faculty or advisor for academic counseling.  To advance within the ECD program, the student must earn a C (2.00) or better in all ECD courses that assign a letter grade, 5600- 5800.  Failure to achieve a grade of C (2.00) or better in any of the above mentioned courses will require the student to repeat the course and receive a grade of C (2.00) or better before continuation to a course requiring the course as a prerequisite.  Beginning with 2005-2006 plan of study, in order to be eligible for student teaching and the Ohio Department of Education Prekindergarten Associate License a “B” (3.00) or better is required in all co-requisite field /methods courses, 5641/5649; 5615; 5631/5639; 5621/5638; 5667.  A student may repeat the failed course a maximum of two (2) times.  The student may use the withdrawal process to withdraw from a course a maximum of two times.
