What is the prerequisite process for courses?

Prerequisites are courses that need to be completed prior to another course; they ensure that a student will be prepared with the skills and/or knowledge necessary to be successful in that course.  Prerequisites can be determined via placement tests, transfer credit, and/or a particular course may just require a specific prerequisite (this would be stated in the Course Description).  Students need to follow prerequisites and prerequisites cannot be overridden by an Advisor or any other member of The Gateway staff.  Students need to work closely with their Advisor and/or pay attention to the progression outline on their Plan of Study to make sure that they are completing necessary prerequisites prior to specific courses.
