COTC has completed its site visit, the final step in preparing
for reaccreditation by The
Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association).
The HLC accredits COTC as a whole, and HLC accreditation
complements our many accreditations by specialized accrediting
bodies.
Although the formal decision
by the Higher Learning Commission becomes available later this
year, the visiting team will recommend 10 years of
reaccreditation and COTC's requests to recognize the Knox and
Pataskala sites as full service campuses. The final report from
the team will include a requirement for commission follow up on
using assessment data to improve student learning with a
progress report due in March 2011. In addition, by meeting the
set of conditions outlined by the team and providing the
Commission with a progress report, we anticipate being
authorized to offer the complete Business Management degree
online no later than 2010.
Our preparation for the accreditation team site visit on May 12
- 14, 2008, was led by Jackie Parrill, and by the members of the
steering committee. They led subcommittees in writing the
self-study report that was submitted to the Commission.
The self-study report required a good deal of time and effort,
and I am proud of the result. The self-study report effectively
tells the COTC story and provides a thorough introduction to COTC
for the site visitors. The Self-Study report is available on
this site by clicking on the Self-Study link at the top of the
page.
Sincerely,
Bonnie L. Coe, Ph.D.
