Emergency Medical Service Program
Program Learning Outcomes

Statement of Purpose

 

The purpose of the Emergency Medical Services program is to prepare qualified emergency medical service – paramedics who practice ethically, respond to patient needs with competence and compassion and help fulfill the community’s health care needs.

 

Learning Outcomes

 

At the completion of the Emergency Medical Services plans of study the student will be able to:

 

1.

Perform general patient assessment and initial management of patient.

2.

Perform trauma patient assessment and care.

3.

Provide general medical illness care.

4.

Provide patient care for gynecological and obstetrical emergencies, including neonatal management.

5.

Provide behavioral emergency patient care.

6.

Demonstrate appropriate personal safety and provide care for patients with communicable diseases.

7.

Meet requirements established for national registration and state certification.
