Program Learning Outcomes

Statement of Purpose

 

The purpose of the Drafting and Design Technology--Civil Design Option program is to prepare competent drafting and construction technicians for the architecture and engineering profession.

 

Learning Outcomes

 

At the completion of the Drafting and Design Technology -- Civil Design Option plan of study the student will be able to:

 

1.

Use a computer drafting program to create accurate civil engineering documents to meet professional drafting standards and applicable zoning and regulations.

2.

Use construction components and materials to create assemblies and detail drawings meeting construction standards. 

3.

Use problem solving and critical thinking skills to design and document functional solutions to meet established criteria and standards when given design criteria and simple design problems.

4.

Apply appropriate terminology to effectively communicate with professionals in the Engineering and Design office environment.

5.

Exhibit professionalism through active participation in class activities and successful completion of group projects.
