Transfer Students

Transfer Credit Evaluation Process
Students wishing to obtain transfer credit from another accredited college to COTC must submit an official college transcript to the Office of Student Records.  A bulletin with course descriptions or course syllabi from applicant's former college may be requested before transfer credit is evaluated.

Courses taken at an accredited institution in which a student has earned a grade of "C" (2.00) or better which are parallel to those at COTC will be considered for transfer credit.  In situations in which course work is determined to be too old or where requisite skills may have been lost, transfer credit will not be awarded. Transfer credit appears as "K" on COTC transcripts, and is not used in computing COTC cumulative averages.

For an Associate Degree or an approved Ohio Board of Regents certificate program, no more than 50 percent of the credits required for the degree or certificate will be accepted through transfer and non-traditional credit options combined.

TRANSFER CREDIT EVALUATION PROCESS

  1. Applicant submits Application for Admissions Form with a $20 non-refundable fee.

  2. Applicant submits official transcripts from all colleges/universities/military schools previously attended.

  3. An Academic Advisor will evaluate based on criteria noted above.

  4. Applicant is notified in writing as to the results of the credit evaluation.

TRANSFER CREDIT DURING QUARTER PRIOR TO GRADUATION

Students who plan to transfer credit during their last quarter at COTC from another institution to meet graduation requirements must have the written approval of the Academic Program Director and Registrar prior to the quarter of graduation.  Any transfer credit from another institution must have approval prior to filing the Petition to Graduate form.  Course(s) for which the student expects transfer credit must be clearly indicated on the Petition to Graduate form.
