NEWARK, Ohio, March 24, 2017 – The Workforce Development Innovation Center (WDIC) at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and its director, Vicki Maple, have received the Ohio Continuing Higher Education Association (OCHEA) Program Excellence Award. The award recognizes individuals and their institutions that are making significant contributions to higher education in Ohio through excellent program development.
"It's such an honor," said Maple. "I believe workforce development and higher education are important to economic growth. At COTC, our mission is to meet the technical education and training needs of students and employers in the area. I am proud to help execute our mission daily for the communities we serve."

were nominated for the award. Letters of support were submitted by John Fisher, director of Licking County Job and Family Services and Toni Bell, president/CEO of Phoenix Consulting. The nomination noted that Maple, represents through her programming and modeling, the vision of OCHEA to "address issues of importance to the delivery of continuing higher education and workforce development in the State of Ohio, as well as to provide opportunities for professional growth and development."
The OCHEA seeks to address issues of importance to the delivery of continuing higher education and workforce development in the State of Ohio, as well as to provide opportunities for professional growth and development. It is a not-for-profit organization of accredited, nonprofit institutions of higher education in Ohio dedicated to continuing education, workforce development and lifelong learning through continuing education.
The award was presented to Maple during the OCHEA annual conference luncheon in Columbus on March 23.
COTC was ranked number one in Ohio and number 19 in the nation by PayScale in its 2016-17 College Salary Report ranking the best community and career colleges by salary potential. COTC is a fully accredited, public college dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible programs of technical education in response to current and emerging employment needs. COTC is the only technical college in Ohio operating four full-service campus locations: Newark, Coshocton, Knox and Pataskala.
