NEWARK, Ohio, June 26, 2017 – Spring semester 2016 graduates of the diagnostic medical sonography (DMS) program at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) have achieved the highest credentialing examination pass rates for the program over the last decade. COTC awards the Associate of Applied Science degree to graduates of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technology. Students can choose to specialize in general sonography or cardiovascular sonography.
"This is wonderful news for our students and our program," said COTC DMS Program Director Melinda Shoen. "Ninety percent of our general sonography majors and ninety-three percent of our cardiovascular sonography majors were credentialed within one year of graduation."

The diagnostic medical sonography program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Joint Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Sonography careers continue to grow with the development of new technologies. Growth is projected to continue into the future. Qualified sonographers are needed locally and nationwide to provide quality patient care, use high-tech instrumentation to create and interpret diagnostic imagery used by physicians, and work as a critical member of a healthcare team.
