NEWARK, Ohio, June 1, 2016 – Two Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) students earned All-Ohio Academic Team honors from the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC). Angela Lake, an architectural engineering technology major, and Ryann McFarland, a human services major, were selected as All-Ohio Academic Third Team members. The two were honored at the annual recognition luncheon at the Ohio Statehouse Atrium in downtown Columbus.
The All-Ohio Academic Team provides statewide recognition and cash scholarships to outstanding two-year college students at Ohio’s 23 community colleges. To be eligible, students must be nominated to the All-USA Academic Team. Nominees must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least a 3.50.
Lake lives in Newark and has a 3.63 GPA. Her goal is to eventually obtain a bachelor’s degree in architecture or construction systems management. McFarland also lives in Newark and has a 3.53 GPA. She wants to use her human services degree to help individuals succeed.
Lake and McFarland each received a $250 check and an All-Ohio Academic Team medallion, certificate and pin through the generosity of Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc. The 20th Annual All-Ohio Academic Team recognition luncheon is co-sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa and the OACC.
Central Ohio Technical College opened in 1971 and is celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2016.
