Student Art to be Displayed at Open House

April 13, 2016—Newark, OH—The Newark Art Collective at The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) invites the public to an open house featuring an exhibit of student artwork entitled, "An Afternoon of Art." The event will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the LeFevre Art Gallery located in LeFevre Hall, 1199 University Drive. The exhibit will continue until April 29.

NewarkArtCollective_Spr2016.jpgThe Newark Art Collective is a student organization and is open to any student attending Ohio State Newark or COTC. Students displaying their artwork will also have it published in The Newark Art Collective, the organization's publication which is published each semester in print and online. The exhibit will include paintings, photography and more, and gives the viewer a chance to see the original works on display and recognize the creative talents of these students.

Student artist, Ellie MacDonald said, "Promoting creativity and self-expression among students on campus helps to express the importance of art in society. My hope is that the exhibit will inspire other students to display their passion for creativity and at the same time gather a better understanding of one another."

Sponsored by the Newark Art Collective and curated by Dr. Ann Burkhart, lecturer in art education at Ohio State Newark, the event is free and open to the public.  Light refreshments will be served.

Deadline for student submissions to the exhibit is April 20. Questions may be directed to Mikayla Erbe, student editor of The Newark Art Collective and coordinator for the exhibit at erbe.15@buckeyemail.osu.edu.
