NEWARK, Ohio, January 17, 2019 – Registration is now open for the 7th annual High School Egg Drop Competition Destination for Innovation event at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC). The event will be Friday, April 26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the John Gilbert Reese Center, 1209 University Drive, Newark, on the shared campus of COTC and The Ohio State University at Newark. The competition is hosted by COTC's engineering technology department.
The event is open to all high school students, who will compete as individuals or a team to design a device that will protect an egg from breaking when it is dropped from a height of approximately 22 feet. In 2018, more than 400 central Ohio high school students representing 32 high schools participated in COTC's Egg Drop. The competition encourages ingenuity and innovation in high school students who have an interest in engineering, but it is also open to those students who plan on pursuing education outside of engineering after high school.
Four of COTC's engineering technology programs are internationally accredited by the ABET. To learn more about the degrees and certificates available in engineering technology, visit cotc.edu/engtech.
