Celebrate Independence Day this year on the shared campus of Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and The Ohio State University at Newark. The annual concert and fireworks display is on Wednesday, July 3. The event is free and open to the public. Parking on campus is free.
The celebration begins at 6:15 p.m. with the presentation of COTC’s John C. "Jay" Barker Alumni Community Service Award. Local cover band Sticks & Stones takes the stage at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra at approximately 8 p.m. A spectacular fireworks display will begin 10 p.m. After the fireworks, Sticks & Stones will return to the stage to conclude the evening’s festivities. All performances will be held at the Martha Grace Reese Amphitheatre.
A number of local vendors will be selling food and beverages on the campus grounds beginning at 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnics for a fun-filled patriotic evening of music and entertainment.
Alumni of COTC and Ohio State Newark are invited to a private reception in the John Gilbert Reese Center. The cost of admission is $10 and includes dinner, family events and reserved seating.
