She has an associate degree in radiologic science technology from COTC, a bachelor's degree in radiology from Oregon Institute of Technology and a master's degree in higher education from Ohio University. Students who nominated Reese for the award praised her for never giving up on those in her classroom.

"Whitney is an amazing teacher. She is someone I look up to and am never afraid to approach when I need school-, clinical- or even work-related advice," said one student. "She takes time out of her personal life to be there for her students and is always happy to help."

"We love Whitney," said another student. "She genuinely cares about her students and wants us to succeed. Whitney is so helpful. If we don't understand something, she does not stop trying until we understand."

Students who nominated Duffy for the award wrote about how Duffy supported them inside and outside the classroom.

"Mrs. Duffy always does the best she can to make sure everyone thoroughly understands the material," said one student. "She is extremely passionate, not only about her job, but about the success of her students as well."

"Mrs. Duffy truly cares about her students," said another student. "She works hard to make sure that class is not only informative, but enjoyable for everyone. She not only wants us to understand what she is teaching, but seeks understanding of our personal lives and is always there for support if needed."

The Full-Time Teaching Excellence Award is presented annually to one of COTC's full-time faculty members in recognition of and to promote teaching excellence. The Part-Time Teaching Excellence Award was instituted in the 2015-16 academic year. It is presented twice a year, following autumn and spring semesters. Faculty members are nominated by enrolled students with the winner selected by a faculty committee.
