FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Lego League is a program which immerses 9-14-year-olds in real-world science and technology challenges. Teams design their own solution to a current scientific question or problem and build autonomous LEGO robots that perform a series of missions. Through their participation, youth develop valuable life skills and discover exciting career possibilities while learning that they can make a positive contribution to society. FLL is comprised of three parts: core values, project research and robot design. This year's theme is Hydro DynamicsSM. The project mission is to explore where water comes from, how we make sure it is safe to drink and what happens to waste water.
Public events begin at 10:30 a.m. with an opening ceremony and continue with practice robot rounds at 11:20 a.m. After a lunch break from noon to 1 p.m., robot competition rounds begin at 1 p.m. The closing ceremony is scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m.
FIRST was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology.
FIRST is a world-wide non-profit organization with robotics programs for grades K-12. Information regarding all of FIRST's programs can be found at https://www.firstinspires.org/
