NEWARK, Ohio, Nov. 7, 2017—Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) is enrolling currently certified emergency medical technicians (EMT) who wish to advance their career in its upcoming evening Emergency Medical Services One-Year Paramedic Certificate program. Classes will be held Monday through Friday evenings beginning Jan. 8, 2018, and can be completed at the COTC Knox campus, 236 S. Main St., Mount Vernon.
Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to apply to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Paramedic exam. COTC’s Paramedic Certificate program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and can be completed in 12 months (spring, summer and autumn semesters 2018). The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that employment of EMTs and paramedics is expected to grow by 33 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations.
