NEWARK, Ohio, July 17, 2017 – Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) is now open to international students studying in the United States on an F-1 Student Visa. COTC was recently approved by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to accept students on F-1 Visas at all four of its locations in Newark, Coshocton, Knox and Pataskala.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for international students studying in the U.S. to get a high-quality, technical education from Central Ohio Technical College and for our current students to interact with and learn from international students," said COTC President Bonnie L. Coe, Ph.D. "This opportunity is not only available in Newark. International students can attend any of our four campus locations, and that will have a great impact throughout the region."
Students attending COTC on an F-1 Visa must enroll as a full-time student and maintain a full course of study until he or she completes their degree program. After completing a program of study the student has 60 days to leave the United States. More information on students attending COTC on an F-1 Visa can be found at cotc.edu/admissions/international-students.
"Business and industry leaders are telling us how important it is for our students to have the skill set to work in a global marketplace. We are making sure our students are prepared, and that they can make an immediate impact when they become employed," said Coe. "Interacting with international students can only enhance and sharpen those skills. It's really exciting for our campus."
To that end, the Workforce Development Innovation Center (WDIC) at COTC will be sponsoring a global business and education conference that will blend business, industry and education leaders. The conference will explore worldwide social impacts and economic structures to examine how to better prepare and advance a skilled workforce in central Ohio. The conference will be held on October 20 in the John Gilbert Reese Center on the shared campus of COTC and The Ohio State University at Newark. Learn more about the conference at cotc.edu/wdic.
COTC was ranked number one in Ohio and number 19 in the nation by PayScale in its 2016-17 College Salary Report ranking the best community and career colleges by salary potential. COTC is a fully accredited, public college dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible programs of technical education in response to current and emerging employment needs.
