NEWARK, Ohio, April 14, 2016 – Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) is offering a summer session of classes that begins in June, three weeks after the traditional summer start on May 16th. The later start date is designed to assist College Credit Plus (CCP) students who don't get out of middle or high school until late May or anyone else for whom the later start date works better. The group of five courses for the second session will be offered on all four COTC campuses and will begin June 6.
"We want our College Credit Plus students to have the opportunity to take classes over the summer. However, we realized that our summer semester start date of May 16 may not work for them since they are still in school," said Vice President for Extended Campuses and The Gateway Teri Holder. "This will give CCP students a chance to take advantage of the opportunity to take classes over the summer. However, this isn't just for CCP students. COTC students, students from other college who may be home for the summer or anyone interested in taking a college course can take advantage of the opportunity to pick up some classes this summer."
CCP allows students from 7th through 12th grade to earn up to 30 college credits during an academic year at no cost to the students. The program promotes access to higher education and encourages educational pathways linking courses to careers.
The face-to-face classes in the second session include: Composition I, Introduction to Statistics, Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology and Fundamentals of Communication. The June 6 start date will be offered on all four of COTC's campuses in Newark, Pataskala, Knox and Coshocton.
