NEWARK, Ohio, March 1, 2017 – Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) students and alumni have reason to celebrate and are showing how proud they are of their campus in a new advertising campaign that launched today. The COTC #1 marketing campaign features current and past COTC students holding up foam fingers and pennants to publicly revel in the fact that their college was recently ranked number one in Ohio by PayScale in its 2016-17 College Salary Report ranking the best community and career colleges by salary potential.
"This ranking proves what our students and alumni have known for a while: Central Ohio Technical College provides students with the education they need to get amazing, high-paying jobs," said COTC President Bonnie L. Coe, Ph.D. "To be ranked number one is an important accomplishment for the college and for our students. We are thrilled to give them this opportunity to celebrate their college and the opportunity it gave them to be successful."
Several COTC alumni are participating in the campaign. Licking County Chamber President Jennifer McDonald, Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Echo Technologist Archana Rajendran and COTC Engineering Technology Instructor/RoboVent Lead CAD Engineer John Keaser Jr. posed with a foam finger while on the job showing their excitement for the number one ranking.
"I'm very proud. The older I get the more nostalgic I get about it. It is awesome that the school I graduated from is doing so well. It's important to our community, and it's important to me," said McDonald. "COTC is such an asset in my role at the chamber. Workforce is the number one question posed by a company looking to locate into our area. They need to know how our workforce is going to be trained, and we can turn to COTC for that technical training. The curriculum is set up so they can be ready to go into the workforce. Companies are much more apt to come into the area because COTC is here."
"COTC is in my hometown. It's here in Licking County, and obviously I'm proud of Newark and Licking County as a whole. Having that institution here, and the fact that it touches so many lives, not only in our county but in Central Ohio, I'm very proud of that fact," said Thorp. "I just appreciate what COTC has done for me."
Students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members will be asked to share in the celebration by posting photos of how they are celebrating COTC's number one ranking on social media using the hashtag #1COTCedu.
COTC was ranked number one in Ohio and number 19 in the nation by PayScale in its 2016-17 College Salary Report ranking the best community and career colleges by salary potential. COTC is a fully accredited, public college dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible programs of technical education in response to current and emerging employment needs. COTC is the only technical college in Ohio operating four full-service campus locations: Newark, Coshocton, Knox and Pataskala.
