The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness

The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness

The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness is responsible for providing the college leadership with information that supports institutional planning, policy formation and decision making; for coordinating responses to inquiries for college-related information and serving as a comprehensive source for information about the institution; and for administering the Ohio Department of Higher Education's Higher Education Information system (HEI) data collection and reporting system on campus.

Daily operations of the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness are organized around the following activities:

Institutional Research

The office is responsible for the statistical and analytical work associated with the collection, review, analyses, distribution and presentation of college information. The office conducts and analyzes survey instruments, such as the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) and Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE), and is responsible for the data submission for the National Community College Benchmarking Project (NCCBP).

Institutional Research and Effectiveness plays an important role in the data submission to the Ohio Higher Education Information System and IPEDS. Activities also include responding to numerous ad hoc requests for data and information from various constituencies on campus; many times, requests deal specifically with program level accreditation. Members of the office serve on a number of internal committees to provide research support.

Institutional Effectiveness

Institutional effectiveness relates to the extent to which an institution achieves its missions and goals. This is done through a continual process of planning and outcomes assessment for the purpose of documenting that Central Ohio Technical College is achieving its mission and goals and continuously improving its programs and services.
