A class that changed my life: Introduction to Statistics was a class that changed my life. I have always struggled with math, particularly with Algebra. I dreaded taking the statistics course required for my degree, because I thought that I would have the same difficulties. However, I ended up really excelling at the course, and it taught me to connect math to the real world in a new and meaningful way. I learned to overcome my weaknesses, by going at them at a different angle. Life and learning are both about relationships, and statistics reveled a new dimension of connections for me.
Best college experience: Graduation! It was a moment that made me feel like I had the capacity to do great things in the world. My family was so proud when they watched me walk across the stage, and my degree was one of my greatest achievements. I felt powerful, because my hard work and dedication paid off. On the surface it was the end of a journey, but hidden just underneath this conclusion was the hum of so many new opportunities and adventures my degree had drawn a map to.
One piece of advice:
"Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine! Then the fates will know you as we know you"
― Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo
